Breastfeeding Location

ECEC strives to promote healthy beginnings for children. We want to support our breastfeeding mothers. A comfortable spot is provided for breastfeeding in our Infant room. If you would like to take advantage of this location please stop by the front office.

Hearing and Vision Screening

All children 4 years old by September 1^st of each year must have documentation on file of a vision and hearing screening. The screening must be performed by a licensed or certified healthcare professional within the first 120 days of enrollment. Any children not meeting this requirement will not be allowed to attend school.

Vaccination Schedule

All children are required to be current on their immunizations. Any child that is not up to date on their immunizations will not be allowed to attend school unless we are provided with an official immunization exemption affidavit.

Birth: Hepatitis B

2 Months: Hepatitis B; Polio (OPV); Diphtheria; Tetanus; Pertussis (DTP), Hemophilus B (Hibcv), PCV7

4 Months: Hepatitis B; Polio (OPV); Pertussis (DTP), Hemophilus B (HibCV), PCV7

6 Months: Hepatitis B; Polio (OPV); Pertussis (DTP), Hemophilus B (HibCV), PCV7

12-24 Months: Pertussis (DTP), Hemophilus B (HibCV);  Measles,        Mumps, Rubella (MMR); Hepatitis A

4-6 Years: Polio (OPV); Pertussis (DTP); Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis A

11-12 Years: Diphtheria; Tetanus

**By the age of 24 months all children must have documentation of a tuberculosis examination on file.

Illness

Parents of children who become ill with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, 2 episodes of diarrhea or 2 episodes of vomiting will be notified immediately to pick up their child. When we contact you, we will expect you to pick up your child or make necessary arrangements to do so WITHIN ONE HOUR of notification for the comfort of your child and the safety of fellow students and staff members.

Any symptoms of the usual childhood contagious diseases such as scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, hepatitis, pink eye or head lice should be reported to the director immediately. Children with symptoms must be removed from the center to avoid infecting others. Children must be fever free for at least 24 hours and a note from your child’s physician must be obtained before returning to the center.

CPR and First Aid

All staff members of Katy’s ECEC are certified in CPR and First Aid. In the event of a serious injury, parents will be notified as soon as the child’s medical needs have been met. In case of a serious accident or illness, parents will be notified and an ambulance dispatched. If a parent is unable to be reached, the child’s physician may also be consulted for medical advice.

Medication Policy

Medication will be administered at 11:30a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily. Prescription medications must be in the original container labeled with the child’s name, date, directions, and the physician’s name. Katy’s ECEC will not administer prescription medication that is prescribed for another person.   Non-prescription medication will not be dispensed unless accompanied by a physician’s note with required dosage.

Medication authorization forms must be filled out each day medications are to be administered. Forms are located in the medication logbook in the reception area. Medication should be taken home on a daily basis. If your child requires a long term medication we must have a prescription from the doctor on file that includes; child’s name, date of birth, name of medication, dosage, and frequency to be given.

Please notify the Director if your child has become ill with a contagious disease so parents of other children can be notified. A note from your child’s physician must be obtained before your child may return to school.
